报告摘要:

Today Electric Vehicles (EVs) have overcome two of the three main obstacles for mass-market introduction: range and cost. Charging for inter-city distance is still a bottleneck where high charging power requires expensive grid supplies. This talk describes the Tracked Electric Vehicle (TEV) project merging the EV-highway infrastructure with the grid supply infrastructure. Power transfer is enabled by conductive dynamic road charging powering 10 EVs in a platoon at a speed of 200km/h. Pre-manufactured TEV segments will be built on the existing highway infrastructure leading to dramatic cost reduction. EVs on TEV require 40% less on power. That is because in TEV vehicles drive at an inter-vehicle distance of 0.25 car lengths and therefore reducing significantly the overall drag coefficient of the platoon. In addition EVs on TEV drive at steady speed, smooth track surfaces and power is transferred directly to the electric traction motor. EVs on TEV are fully autonomously requiring only two control functions. TEV is inherently safe as sidebars are close to the EVS which prohibit any dangerous spinning in case of accidents. In addition, the light-weight roof structure protects the road from wet weather. It is estimated that one TEV lane replaces 17 traditional highway lanes.
